Assistance during delivery
As we said before all the patients had prenatal care done by different doctors. Ninety different doctors have been responsible for the different groups of pregnant women during the 12 years’ period considered herein. When delivery time came they have been assisted either by midwives, their own doctors or the doctors or the doctor on duty. The responsibility for controlling the dilation stage has been, and it is, assigned to the midwives who also have the possibility of assisting other stages of the birth in agreement with the responsible doctor.
When the pregnant enters the hospital a double face form named “partogram” is used for her. The front face is used for noting down data of the patient, the delivery development and characteristics, and the Apgar score of the newborn by the person who follows the birth process. The back side is used by the neonatologist until discharge from hospital.
